There is a lot of research and casualty data that proves young drivers are at a much higher risk of crashing than older drivers. Road crashes are the biggest single killer of young people in the UK and worldwide, in particular male drivers are at much higher risk.

Other data from Brake - The road safety charity shows that:

- An 18-year-old driver is three times more likely to be involved in a crash then a 48 year-old.

- One in five new drivers have a crash within six months of passing their test. - Young male drivers have much higher crash rates than young female drivers. - Young male drivers aged 17-20 are seven times more at risk than all male drivers

but between the hours of 2am and 5am their risk is 17 times higher. It is very important for young drivers to know the basics of safe driving, below are a few tips to help keep you safe on the roads.
